The smokey black colored dragon had been concealed in the darkness perfectly except for his steel grey eyes. They now glinted with laughter as he gave out a snort of hot air. "You are telling me that a commoner's daughter has the girl to speak to us? My friend, that is impossible. Only people of royalty can talk to us. There must be a mistake."
Melkor got very tense with fear as he realized that there must of been a mistake. In the most authoritative voice he could muster up he commanded, " If this is true then you are coming with us. I will send a message to your father at sunrise tomorrow. You will stay in a guest bedroom for now. Follow me." He gave a quick beckon with his head before he started to speed walk back to his home.
The winged beast took off towards the castle with a smile. He was happy that Melkor had finally had a daughter that could talk to him. Talking to guys all the time got to be boring.

A guest bedroom FOR NOW? Amelia followed the king as he had beckoned, completely confused. In the past seconds she had talked to a dragon and moved into the castle.
"Well . . . Couldn't I be royal in an extremely distanced way?" she mumbled to herself, still not sure of the conversation. Everything had happened so quickly, and her assassin's brain was not working at the moment.
The king seamed concerned, and that had Amelia fretting. Why was her Lord so upset? So she can talk to his scaly bird, so what?

Melkor was very upset. He was going through all of his past relationships, trying to figure out where she could of come from. He couldn't think of any at the moment. I'll have to question ger "father" tomorrow. He should be beheaded for this! Keeping a daughter of the royal familt for himself. What an ungrateful- They had arrived at the guest bedroom. It was a large room with a queen size bed on the opposite walll which was facing east and had a large window on that wall. The colors were soft and golden. There was a bathroom through a door to the left. It was completly clean with towels, cleaning supplies and a bell for a maid. On the wall opposite that there were more windows and a door that opened up to a small balcony. Next to the door was a good sized dresser made out of sherry wood. All in all it was a beautiful room. "There will be guards posted outside your door. I will send a maid in for your breakfast in the morning and you'll be required to meet me and your "father" tomorrow in my hall. Good night." He turned and walked away, his mind buzzing with lots and lots of thoughts. His feet carried him to his balcony where he could see his dragon flying above him.
He had flown to the castle because walking wasn't his forte. Tonight was a great night to fly anyway. When the king finally came out on the balcony, the dragon had given him a snort good night, then he flew off to his cave which was only 5 miles from here.

"Thank you my Lord." she said as her king left the room. She examined her surroundings, and sat down on the beautiful bed that had been provided. Guards? Were they really nessacary? Well . . . Maybe she knew one of them. The girl yawned, and figured she would have to sleep in her dress. She removed the knife from her dress and placed it under a down pillow. Amelia still wasn't sure if the king was serious about her staying here. She wandered over to the massive windows and peered out of the castle. She could see faint roof outlines, and began to feel a great amount of guilt upon leaving. She should be back by now, but no. Her mother would be so worried . . .
Amelia moved towards the door and peered out. She still was in a state of shock.

Melkor had been pacing up and down the hallway now for about an hour. He was waiting for Amelia to come and her father too. He had sent a messenger to deliver a note at dawn and to fetch Amelia's slothes and place them on the outside of her door. He wished his sons could see that they might just have a sister, bt they were gone off to war, protecting my people from those stupid griffins. He heard a loud knock at the door and as he want back to his throne and say down in it, he called, "Come in!" and he waited for the visitor to come through the door.
The dragon had left that morning to go and tell the rest of the dragons his news.

Amelia's Father;
"My Lord," he said as he briskly entered the thrown room and bowed, concerned for Amelia. "You called for me?"
He and his wife had been searching all over for their little princess. The worst type of fear crawled over him when he saw her empty bed, and once he received the message from the king his fear rose more. 'Did he catch her with that boy I heard about?' he thought.
Amelia;
She retrieved the clothes sitting outside her door. It was a plain white dress that she almost never wore if she had the choice. Amelia slid into it anyway, and tucked her knife away for safe keeping. She looked through the mirror before leaving, realizing that she looked absolutely beautiful in the old gown. 'Why did I not wear this more often?' she thought.
The girl exited the room and entered the thrown, bowing to the king once she was seen. As her father walked through the door, she mouthed, 'I'm sorry,' for sneaking out the night before.

Melkor sat back in his throne (chair) and looked icily at Amelia's father. "We have a problem here, Officer. Your daughter was out last night at the Dragon Rock because she claimed she has never seen it before and she wanted to see it. I was there on my midnight walk and we got chatting. My dragon came to me at the closing of the conversation, and I told it what was going on. She understood him. As you know very well, only the royal family (ie me and my sons) can speak to dragons. Help me understand why she can speak to my dragon and still be apart of your family. I'm dieing to know." His voice raised slightly towards the end of his speech. He was an inch away from complete rage, and he was getting impatient.

Amelia's Father;
His jaw dropped. Not like this. This is not how he was supposed to find out. The officer cleared his throat.
"Well, there is a very reasonable explanation . . . " He said, looking dumfounded. "She is not my, nor my wife's child."
There, it was off his chest. But why didn't he feel better? The king was at boiling point, and he was about to explode. What would Amelia think of him now? 'Well . . . At least she wasn't caught with that boy. ' he thought, trying to raise his hopes.
Amelia;
The king's rage reminded her he was on the edge. As her father began to explain that he wasn't her father, Amelia remained stone cold. That kind of emotion, pain, doesn't get to you much after killing so many people.
Amelia looked up to the king, confused, then back to the army officer who was apparently not who he had claimed to be for so many years. She'd be in tears once it all sunk in. She knew that for sure.

His rage subsided for a second as he realized the brilliance of his officer's plan. He stole this child so she could serve him, and its a good thing too because they would of been lost if she had been on their side. It didn't last for long though. The plan's flaw was keeping the king's daughter a secret from him. That did it. His rage flowed out like water from a firehose. "Your plan was brilliant and executed perfectly, but you stop being so brilliant after you don't tell me of my own child. If you had a child, I'd order it to be taken away, but I can't. Amelia shall become an official princess this afternoon, and shall be known as Princess Amelia. You, Officer had no right to hide royal property away from the king himself and shall be punished by being stripped of all of your ranks the first one on every first infantry list there is available. Every messenger trip you can go on, you will. If there is a major battle, you'll be in the first line. Your punishment starts now. Now leave me!" His voice had raised to a shout when he finished speaking to that solider.
He turned to Amelia and stated in a nicer tone, "Princess Amelia, At high noon today, we will find a dragon for you."

Officer;
He merely nodded at the king's command. All rank. The punishment was too horrible for him to bear. As she turned to leave, he took one last glance at Amelia, who gave him the most heart wrenching look of sympathy as he exited.
Amelia;
Princess. She silently mouthed the word. It sounded so . . . Fake. Not like the Royal Assassin Amelia. She turned to her . . . father, the king, and merely nodded at his mention of a dragon. It really just went in one ear and out the other. What she was really concerned about was that the only man she had ever loved as a father just walked out those doors, probably to be killed on the front lines.

Zlokaz flew over head, the tall, black castle was now out of view. He was flying home to gather up some of his brothers and sisters so that the new addition of the family could be marked by one and claim them.
Melkor dismissed his daughter and went along his day ordering kills and appointing a new officer. His daughter was still his royal assassin, and would still go on missions, but he would make sure that for the next few weeks that none were given to her.
It was high noon and he and Raazruan were waiting for the new Princess to join them so they could set off on their journey.

She approached the king and his dragon, her tears dried and now having a stone look on her face, only exhentuated by her icy blue eyes.
"Hello my Lord," she muttered, bowing to the king. You could say she was down in the dumps, but she showed no emotions. Amelia had forgotten what she was to do with the king at noon . . . something about dragons? The topic didn't concern her. What did was how her "mother" was acting at the moment, just finding out the had not only lost Amelia, but also the income provided from the higher ranks.

Melkor could tell that the new addition to the family was not acting as he would if he found he was royalty and got a dragon. He thought for a second That ungrateful girl! Then he thought about what it would be like to be ripped form your family and put into a new, better one. The king shrugged his broad shoulders and thought I would love it. Well, she'd better get used to it. His mind returned to the matter at hand when Zlokaz decided to explain the process of choosing a dragon.
The steel eyes of Zlokaz were flickered with his eagerness to get the girl in front of him bound to one of his brothers or sisters. He summoned a deep, fierce growl and spoke, "Greetings, princess. Today you are going to travel to my country and get yourself bound to a dragon. He or she may come to you, and try and kill you. However, all of them try to kill you, then you can pick the one you wish to be bound to. You win the battle by breaking their will. Then, he or she will give you a mark that will bind you together. I gave your father the scars on his back, as well as the tattoo of the dragon head on his arm. You will get one of those too. Come, get your steed and lets get going."
The king called a guard to bring out two white horses out for the two humans to ride. Horses were very rare in Phostire, because the dragons love to eat them and grass doesn't thrive here. Melkor heaved up into the saddle. It had been years since he'd ridden one, and he was just getting used to it. A mere ha! was al that he said, and his horse started galloping off towards Shadow ridge.
Zlokaz unfolded his wings and with a great swish of his wings, was airborne and circling the king and his daughter.

Amelia shuddered as the dragon told her one would give her his mark. It brought back the painful memories of when she was almost killed by one. She was on an assassination mission of one of the other kingdoms commanding officers, and in the process of going to the kingdom and gaining the trust of the officer, he showed her some dragons that they had managed to capture. He was explaining that they were the enemy, when she caught the eye of one restrained one. Terror flooded over the girl when the dragon had freed itself from it's bonds and ripped down her neck, shoulder, and right arm, almost hitting her juggler, dislocating her arm (which she was lucky didn't come off), and almost ripping her wrist off. Amelia cannot remember what made the dragon stop mauling her, as all she can remember is blood. The scars left on her were deep, and fairly gruesome looking, and if she removed her dress (which she was not about to do), you could see the line of claws on her right shoulder blades wrapping down her arm.
The horses were shown to her and she quickly and gracefully mounted. She was accustomed to horses whenever she traveled, so ridding them wasn't an issue. She quickly galloped after the king, adrenaline pumping through her veins. She smiled and pushed the horse harder, passing the king gradually. Brown curls blew behind her and she had one hand on the rein, the other on her illegal knife, which she had out and in hand, as if preparing to slaughter soldiers on the ground. Amelia was ready to kill something, the feel of warm crimson becoming unfamiliar as time went by. Oh how badly she wanted to feels a persons neck, finding just the right spot to insert the poisoned knife. One cut was all you needed for the toxin to enter your blood stream, and she loved to watch her victim's convolutions and seizures as they fell over dead. The kingdom of Phostire had made her into a killing machine, and part of Amelia hoped her new father wouldn't regret it.

Melkor gave a slight smile when Amelia passed him. She probably rides these beasts all the time. I need to get out of the walls of the castle more often. he reflected.
When they finally arrived at the base of the shadowy, grey mountain, the horses were more than on edge and where one hair away from spooking. The place reeked of smoke and earth. Zlokaz landed a hundred feet or so behind them so they could send their horses back home with no problems.
The king landed with a loud thump. His boots were instantly covered in powdery rock and soot. Melkor patted the still snow white horse and murmured, "Go home," to it. The four hoofed animal backed up from the king, turned to the way they came, and cantered away.
Zlokaz pointed his head to the top of the mountain and let out a loud sound that was between a screech and roar. A second after he stopped the sound, dozens of other screeches and roars sounded. They sounded neither friendly nor like an enemy. A long streak of blue flames left the opened jaws of Zlokaz. They instantly lit up the darkened sky around them to give the humans a brief flash of about ten dragons that were circling them in the sky.
Melkor winced at the blue flames that escaped his dragon's mouth and was half in awe, half in fear when he saw ten dragons above them. He had only seen them in groups of no more than five before. But then again, he had never been to dragon county before.
