Name: Ria Isobel Hockan
Gender: Female
Age: Nineteen
Rank: Commoner, daughter of a potion maker
Species: Human
Alliance: Kingdom of Anthropesia
Appearance: Ria has a very slight figure, almost stick thin. She has long black hair that goes to her waist, and a face covered in freckles. Brilliant green eyes hide behind specs, an object her father decided she should have after she ran into a building when she was ten. Fare skin, and sharp, hawk-like features. She wears common clothing. Ria is often found with an apron on that has an assortment of stains, some even burning a hole through it. She is rather short for her age, only going up to 5'1''.
Personality: Ria's motto is 'There is a difference between shy and quiet.' and she proves there is. She is intelligent, stubborn and quiet. She has always found an excuse not to marry, and her father, being the man he is, has accepted any excuse. Ria became her father's unofficial apprentice ("He's still in the dark about that, the poor bloke.") and now knows just about as much as he does on the topic. Ria is constantly in a rush, and never really has time for being polite.
History:
Ria was born in the potion store...well, on the top level of it, which is where her family lived. She came out screaming and crying, like any other baby. Ria was a very serious child, choosing to stay in and read her father's, Marcus, books instead of playing outside with her elder brother, Gallifrey. Ria's mother, Rose, could often be found at the bakery, excitedly buying plentiful amounts of fresh goodies. Unfortunately, Rose died of a sickness when Ria was eight and Gallifrey thirteen. It was then that the tiny little girl decided she would take care of her family in her mother's absence. Gallifrey decided to join the army the moment he turned seventeen, leaving Ria and Marcus home alone. He was soon killed in action. Ria and Marcus have been keeping up the shop ever since, with Marcus growing more and more forgetful as days pass by...sometimes even calling Ria 'Gallifrey'.
Sample RP:
Ria's green orbs examined the front room of the shop, her body presently set behind the counter. 'Yes, I'll have to clean that today, and have that taken down, and throw that thing out...' Her mind went on and on, until a sudden interruption caused by a loud jumble of noises that sounded to be getting closer to the shop. Ria could recognize those noises anywhere. Mme Gumble and her three children were coming. Ria moved fast, swiping the potions on the lower shelves into her skirts, then placing them instead on the higher shelves. She scooted the box of new vials behind the counter with the toe of her boot, and checked the lock on the money box behind the counter. The last thing she did was get Mme Gumble's order and set it on the counter. Yes, everything was secure and ready for the tornado of so-called 'Humans' to come through.
Ria finished just in time, as the big bodied, red haired Mme Gumble shoved her way through the door with her like-bodied sons. "Madamoiselle Hockan, do you have my anti snoring potion ready? Ah, I see you d--XAVIER! STOP THAT!-- sorry about that, sweetheart, you know he doesn't--GALLIFREY! YOU LITTLE BUGGER! PUT THAT DOWN!--mean to." Ria winced at the mention of her late brother's name. Mme Gumble had named her youngest son that while she was trying to win the affections of M. Hockan, Ria's father. It was a painful time for Ria, always sweeping up the little one's messes while Marcus obliviously attempted to help Mme Gumble. Luckily, that ended soon after Marcus had accidently spilled a bottle of Quik-Fyre potion down Mme Gumble's new dress. "Oui, here is your potion, Madame. The boys are no problem, I assure you." Ria handed Mme Gumble's snoring potion over to her, carefully, as to avoid aggravating the vial it was in. This certain vial seemed to be a bit moody today.
Mme Gumble smiled, then leaned over the table as if to whisper to Ria. "I heard you're really good with love potions, Ria. Would you mind whipping one up for an old, lonely maid?" Ria's eyes narrowed in distaste, not only at the audacity of such a request, but at how close Mme Gumble seemed to be to Ria. "No, madame. I do not make love potions. Ever. And, I would like to remind you that the definition of a 'maid' or a 'maiden' is a virgin. Which you, obviously, are not." Ria directed a pointed stare at her three boys. Mme Gumble's mouth gaped open in shock, and her face started to turn red "HOW DARE---HOW COULD---UGH! GALLIFREY, XAVIER, DAMIEN, OUT! NOW!" With that, the big red headed woman stomped out, dragging her poor children behind her. Ria released a sigh of relief, and started to unpack the new vials, with the cheerful thought that Mme Gumble might annoy her vial enough for it to bite her..
